An international search for one of Canada’s most wanted fugitives has concluded. Adrian Gordon, 24, was arrested at a four-storey apartment block in Luton.
Gordon was on the run following the murder of champion bodybuilder Jesse Tubbs, 30, in Toronto. Tubbs, who was found with gunshot wounds in a known drug area, succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) had issued a global alert for Gordon, describing him as “armed, violent, and dangerous.”
The hunt for Gordon led to a tip-off that he was in Luton. The National Crime Agency (NCA) in London acted on this information, and Gordon was apprehended at The Martindale housing complex.
Pavel Klimowicz, a resident and student, reported: “I woke up to a massive scream and found out later that the police had raided the building and arrested him. To know he is one of Canada’s most wanted men is crazy. Kids and families live here, so thank God something worse didn’t happen.”
Another neighbour noted, “He kept himself to himself but was always polite and nice. It’s incredible to think he was wanted for a murder.”
The RCMP continues to investigate the motive behind Tubbs’ “first-degree murder.” Gordon appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on the day of his arrest and has been remanded in custody until September 30, pending an extradition hearing.
