Cage Fighter and MMA Champion Dies in Car Cliff Plunge
Renata Corrêa Baldan, a former cage fighter, died in a car crash in Ubatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. She lost control of her vehicle on a motorway curve, causing it to overturn, hit a tree and fall off a 33ft cliff.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, and Ms Baldan died from her injuries at the scene. Emergency services found her trapped in the wreckage alone.
Ms Baldan was a mother of four and had a successful career in martial arts. She was a former MMA, Muay Thai, and Jiu-jitsu fighter.
She was also crowned Miss Ubatuba. After years in martial arts, Ms Baldan changed her career and became a personal trainer in 2015. She qualified as a firefighter in July 2022 and began working as a beautician and massage therapist in early 2023. She ran a clinic in Ubatuba.
Following her death, tributes have been paid to the former martial arts champion. Her son expressed his gratitude for the messages of support he received during this difficult time.
