Brittany Mahomes Slams Critics Over Trump Post Backlash: ‘Deep-Rooted Issues You Refuse to Heal’
Brittany Mahomes has responded to critics following backlash over her alleged “like” on a former President Donald Trump post. The 28-year-old wife of NFL star Patrick Mahomes took to Instagram Stories to address the negativity she’s faced.
In her post, Brittany suggested that the intense hatred directed at her stems from unresolved issues, saying, “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.
There’s no reason your brain is fully developed, and you hate to see others doing well.”
Her response comes amid a wave of criticism after it was noted that she had liked an August 13 Instagram post from Trump, which detailed his plan to “make America great again.” The like has since been removed from the post.
The controversy follows another significant news item involving the Mahomes family: Patrick Mahomes recently pledged a $5 million donation for the South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project at Texas Tech University, his alma mater.
Critics have targeted Brittany on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, condemning her for allegedly supporting Trump. Some users expressed their disapproval by calling her “disgusting” and questioning her values, linking her actions to Trump’s controversial legal history.
In 2023, Trump was found liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll, though he was cleared of rape charges by a New York City jury. He has faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct over the years.
The backlash also spurred speculation among Taylor Swift’s fans, who have suggested that Brittany’s support for Trump might affect her friendship with Swift. Swift, who has publicly opposed Trump, became friends with Brittany last fall after her partner, Travis Kelce, began dating the Mahomes’.
Despite the public scrutiny, neither Brittany nor Patrick has commented on the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Patrick has previously stated that he does not wish to influence others’ voting choices and believes in allowing individuals to make informed decisions.
Neither Brittany nor Patrick has been following the Republican presidential nominee on social media.
