A British woman, identified as Jude Hill, has been detained in Thailand following an incident in a Pattaya hotel on Christmas morning.
Hill, a mother-of-one from Plymouth, allegedly attempted to have sex on a glass table in the lobby of the Flipper Lodge Hotel, causing it to shatter.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 3 a.m. when Hill was seen straddling her partner on the table. Hotel staff intervened after the furniture broke, only to discover the pair were not registered guests.
Hill allegedly fled the scene while being pursued by staff but was eventually subdued near the beach after a confrontation with an armed officer.
Bystanders assisted in restraining her, and she was later escorted to the police station in handcuffs. Footage from the arrest shows Hill insulting officers as she was taken into custody.
Hotel employees described the disruption, stating that Hill and her partner initially engaged in sexual activity on a sofa before attempting to use the glass table.
The staff member, who chose to remain anonymous, said the couple refused to leave when asked, causing a commotion that led to their removal and subsequent report to the police. While the damage was minor, the hotel intends to press charges to ensure accountability.
Hill’s presence in Thailand follows a fire at her home in Elburton, Plymouth, in September. According to Devon and Cornwall Police, an Audi Q2 parked in her driveway was deliberately set on fire with an accelerant, causing significant smoke and fire damage to the house. Hill and the other occupants were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. The incident is being investigated as arson.
The UK Foreign Office has acknowledged Hill’s detention in Thailand. A spokesperson confirmed awareness of the case and stated that assistance is available for British nationals abroad.
Pattaya, located on Thailand’s eastern coast, is a well-known tourist destination. Its beaches and nightlife attract visitors. The city is approximately a two-hour drive from Bangkok’s main airport.
Hill now faces potential legal action for property damage and public misconduct. As the case proceeds, further developments are expected.
