A 22-year-old British man was rushed to the hospital with severe stab wounds in Tenerife today. The incident occurred early this morning in the Playa de las Américas resort, located in the southern part of the Spanish island.
The victim, who was on holiday in Tenerife, was taken to the intensive care unit at a hospital in Santa Cruz, the island’s capital. He is currently receiving treatment for a severe stab wound to his stomach. His condition remains critical.
A Spanish man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing. The National Police, handling the investigation, has not released further details, stating that the incident is still under investigation. Authorities have up to 72 hours to question the suspect before deciding whether to release him.
According to a spokesman for the emergency response coordination centre, the injured man was transported to the Our Lady of Candelaria University Hospital. The emergency services were alerted via a 999 call just before 6:30 a.m. this morning, reporting an injured man on Avenida Antonio Dominguez Alfonso in Arona.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
