Debra Wright, a 43-year-old British tourist from Wigan, has tragically died following a jet ski accident off Los Toros beach in Spain’s Costa del Sol region.
The incident occurred late Saturday evening when the jet ski she was riding was struck from behind by a speedboat, according to reports from local authorities and eyewitnesses.

Spanish police confirmed that the speedboat driver was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol. The suspect appeared in court and was subsequently released on bail. Authorities have yet to release further details about the ongoing investigation.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 7:30 pm, with paramedics attending to Ms. Wright. It remains unclear whether she died at the scene or after being transported to the hospital.

Debra Wright was a teaching assistant and a devoted mother, as well as the wife of Chris Wright, chairman of Ashton Town Football Club based in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Greater Manchester. The football club issued a heartfelt tribute to Debra, expressing deep sorrow and asking for privacy as her family and the club community grieve.
“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that, on behalf of Ashton Town FC, we announce the tragic death of Debra Wright, wife of Chris, our chairman, who was tragically killed whilst on holiday in Spain,” the club stated on their social media platform.

The British Foreign Office has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
The case remains under investigation by Spanish authorities, with local police continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
