A former Britain’s Got Talent contestant, Chantel Bellew, has tragically died at the age of 34, with friends and family paying heartfelt tributes to the talented tap dancer.
Bellew, at 28, participated in Britain’s Got Talent during Series 13 in 2019. She impressed the judges and was considered for the semi-finals. She shared her memorable experience on social media, where she showcased her remarkable talent.

In a clip from her BGT performance posted to Facebook, Bellew is seen performing on stage, flanked by dancers dressed in military gear. In a dramatic moment, two performers tear away her outer costume, revealing a striking Union Jack-themed bodysuit underneath — a move that shocked hosts Ant and Dec.
Bellew had also appeared with Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke, teaching him to tap dance, as shown in another Facebook video.

Her close friend, Daniel McErlean, confirmed that Bellew passed away on March 22, surrounded by her loved ones.
McErlean and her family set up a GoFundMe page, describing Bellew as a “kind, loving, and passionate spirit who brought joy and laughter to many.” The fundraiser aims to cover funeral expenses, memorial services, and other related costs. Any remaining funds will be donated to Mind.org.uk, a charity dedicated to mental health support.
In a heartfelt tribute, her parents said: “Adored and loved passionately by her mother Jill Dawson, father Paul Bellew, and brother Leon Dawson. They are going to make sure she gets the send-off she deserves.”
Bellew’s friend Katy Glover remembered her vibrant personality: “She was such a whirlwind — the life and soul of the party. She lived and breathed glamour and showbiz and was a fantastic tap dancer.”

Renowned theatre director Stephen Mear, who worked with Bellew during the Paris production of 42nd Street, expressed his sadness: “This has shocked me. Such a wonderful, funny person with a big heart. Also, one of the best tappers I’ve ever worked with. RIP Chantel.”
Former co-star Hannah Stearne added: “I can’t understand… You were the life and light in every room! Sharing the stage with you was an absolute privilege. I’m heartbroken.”

Presenter Luis Elkes shared his grief on Instagram, writing: “Chantel Bellew, I will miss you for the rest of my life. Thank you for being my best friend. Life will never be the same without you. I’ll love you forever.”
Liam Paul Jennings also paid tribute: “Always a beautiful, bright soul and such a talent! She was always a huge supporter of mine, and I was of hers!! So sad to hear of her passing, but I know her tapping feet will be heard in heaven!!”
Bellew had been living in Widnes, Cheshire, where she dedicated her time to teaching dance and singing in her local community.
