Boxer Idris Abdurashidov Faces Lifetime Ban After Brutal Illegal Head Kick Knocks Out Opponent
Footage has surfaced of an incident that has stunned the boxing community. It shows a fighter committing a dangerous illegal move that could lead to a lifetime ban—and possibly more severe consequences. The fighter in question later shared the video on social media, further aggravating the situation by boasting about the act.
Idris Abdurashidov, an undefeated MMA fighter with a 4-0 record, was making his professional boxing debut in Phuket, Thailand, on Sunday, facing Iranian boxer Bagher Faraji. By the fourth round, Abdurashidov, unaccustomed to relying solely on his fists, reportedly lost the match after taking a powerful punch to the body. Instead of trying to turn the fight around through legal means, the 21-year-old launched an illegal head kick at Faraji, a move forbidden in boxing.
The kick struck Faraji on the right side of his head, knocking him out instantly in a horrifying moment. Faraji collapsed to the canvas, and his team rushed to his aid while Abdurashidov was immediately disqualified.
Rather than showing regret, Abdurashidov posted the footage on Instagram with a caption, loosely translated from Russian: “So he debuted in professional boxing. And disqualification for life, that leg kick I threw (was) a machine gun!” This has fueled outrage across the combat sports community, as Abdurashidov faces the possibility of being permanently banned from boxing and MMA.
Abdurashidov joined the One Chance Team MMA group in May, but his future with the team and in combat sports looks uncertain. Social media erupted with condemnation, with one commenter stating, “You were getting embarrassed and had to cheat. Classless, and I’m glad you’re banned for life.” Another user remarked, “When you’re about to lose, and your weak mind doesn’t want to accept it.”
Reactions on other platforms, like X, were similarly strong. Some called for legal action, with one user commenting, “He should go to jail.” Others suggested that his combat career should be over, with one fan writing, “This shows a lack of restraint… this is technically an assault.”
As the controversy unfolds, many in the combat sports community believe Abdurashidov’s ability to participate in any professional competition, including MMA, may be permanently revoked. Fans and experts call for harsh penalties, not only for his actions in the ring but also for his lack of remorse.
