Boris Johnson Endorses Donald Trump’s Presidential Comeback, Hails Potential Global Impact and Urges Support for Ukraine”
Boris Johnson has thrown his support behind Donald Trump’s bid to return to the White House, suggesting that the ‘global wokerati’ are uneasy about the prospect of a second presidential term.
The former UK prime minister, whose tenure overlapped with Trump’s for 13 months between 2019 and 2021, believes it could be precisely what the world needs.
In his regular column for the Daily Mail, Johnson argues that if the former president supports Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, his renewed leadership could be a significant global positive. Despite Trump’s wavering commitment to Kyiv and his close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Johnson, a staunch Ukraine supporter, asserts that Trump won’t abandon the war-torn nation.
Johnson expresses optimism, stating, “I simply cannot believe that Trump will ditch the Ukrainians; on the contrary, having worked out that there is no deal to be done with Putin, there is a good chance that he will double down and finish what he started — by giving them what they need to win.” He believes the West could be more vital under Trump’s leadership and stabilise the world.
The ex-Tory leader contends that the world requires a US leader willing to use force and unpredictability to deter threats to the West. Despite Trump’s NATO-skeptic stance and his claim to end Russia’s war on Ukraine in 24 hours, Johnson sees potential for positive change.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has even invited Trump to visit Kyiv, hoping he can swiftly end the conflict. In his column, Johnson acknowledges Trump’s legal challenges. Still, he defends him, saying, “I like his style,” and denies labelling him a ‘would-be dictator,’ despite allegations of his role in the Capitol riot.
Johnson mocks the hysteria surrounding Trump’s status as the Republican front-runner, citing the unease among the global elite in Davos. He also suggests that Trump is interested in a “proper free trade deal” with post-Brexit Britain, despite the abandonment of hopes for a full-blown trade agreement last year.
