Body of Missing Georgia Woman Found; Suspect Arrested in Alleged Abduction and Murder
Authorities have confirmed that the body of Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez, a missing 25-year-old woman from Georgia, was found near the Walmart where she was last seen on October 22.
Police have arrested a suspect, 24-year-old Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches, in connection with her alleged kidnapping and murder.
Rivera-Sanches was taken into custody in Atlanta on Monday and has been charged with kidnapping as the investigation into Rodriguez-Ramirez’s disappearance unfolds.
Known for documenting her fitness journey on TikTok, Rodriguez-Ramirez was last seen at the Cornelia Walmart, where she reportedly went to meet an acquaintance.
Around 9:30 p.m. that evening, Rodriguez-Ramirez sent her fiancé, Julio Tovor, a message saying, “I am waiting for the brother to pick him up.” Tovor later told Now Habersham News that the message seemed unusual and out of character.
By the following day, after not hearing from her, Tovor said he grew concerned and contacted her mother. The two reported her missing on October 23.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Rodriguez-Ramirez moved to Georgia six years ago for a job opportunity with Mt. Vernon Hills Inc., a local manufacturer.
She is the mother of a 9-year-old daughter who lives with her father in Puerto Rico.
According to Tovor, Rodriguez-Ramirez was a loving mother who frequently spoke about her daughter.
Investigators are still determining the purpose of her Walmart visit and any potential connection between Rodriguez-Ramirez and Rivera-Sanches.
Her car was later found five miles from the Walmart on Hazel Creek Road, with witnesses reportedly seeing both a dark SUV and a gold minivan nearby on the night of her disappearance, according to Now Habersham News.
The remains believed to be those of Rodriguez-Ramirez were discovered on Furniture Drive, which runs parallel to the Walmart parking lot.
Habersham County Coroner Kelsey McEntire confirmed to 11 Alive that an autopsy is underway, though no cause of death or motive has been announced.
Rivera-Sanches is currently held at the Habersham County Detention Center, where he faces additional murder charges related to Rodriguez-Ramirez’s death.
