Big Brother star Chanelle Hayes has quit her job as a nurse after a year in the profession, saying the emotional pressure left her unable to give patients the care they deserved.
The 37-year-old reality TV personality and mother-of-two decided to leave her role in the NHS to pursue new opportunities on the adult subscription platform OnlyFans.

A close source told M10News that Hayes’ decision came after “months of reflection” on her mental health and work-life balance.
“After years of study and dedication, Chanelle has made the difficult decision to step away from her nursing career,” the insider said.
“The Emotional Strain Became Too Much”
“Nursing was something she went into from a genuine desire to help others, but over time she became frustrated that she couldn’t give the level of care she wanted,” the source added.

“The emotional strain of that gap between intention and reality eventually became too much to bear.”
Hayes, who trained extensively before qualifying as a nurse, reportedly struggled with the time pressures, saying she often felt rushed and unable to connect with patients.
According to the source, the move to OnlyFans was “not a spur-of-the-moment choice” but a considered shift toward regaining control of her personal wellbeing.
“The platform allows her to be creative, connect directly with her supporters, and manage her own schedule,” they said. “It gives her freedom she didn’t have in nursing.”
Finding Confidence After Major Weight Loss
Chanelle’s career pivot also comes after a remarkable personal transformation.
The former Big Brother contestant underwent gastric sleeve surgery in 2020, losing eight stone and regaining confidence in her body image.

Now married to accountant Dan Bingham, whom she wed in June 2024, Hayes is said to be eager to “celebrate her progress” through her OnlyFans content.
“She feels stronger, healthier, and more in control than ever,” the insider said. “The new chapter is about confidence and empowerment not just appearance.”
Struggles With Social Media Restrictions
Hayes’ challenges during her nursing career reportedly extended beyond patient care.
She often felt restricted by the rules placed on NHS workers’ social media use — a difficult adjustment for someone who had built a public profile long before entering healthcare.
“Chanelle was repeatedly warned during her training to limit what she posted online,” the source explained.
“She worried constantly about saying or sharing the wrong thing, which added another layer of stress to an already demanding job.”
For Hayes, who first rose to fame on Big Brother in 2007, social media had long been an outlet for self-expression and connection with fans.

The limitations imposed during her nursing career reportedly made her feel “trapped between two worlds” the caring professional and the creative performer.
A New Chapter of Freedom
After months of deliberation, Hayes decided to prioritise her wellbeing and career independence.
“Chanelle made the choice to leave the profession in a way that allows her to be true to herself, protect her mental health, and embrace new opportunities,” the insider said.

While the decision has sparked debate among fans, many have praised her honesty and resilience in choosing a path that aligns with her lifestyle and values.
For Hayes, the move marks not a retreat from responsibility — but a renewed commitment to living authentically, on her own terms.
