WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris faced an audible wave of boos from the crowd gathered inside the Capitol Rotunda during their introduction at Monday’s inauguration ceremony.

The audience reacted moments before President-elect Donald Trump was sworn in for his second term. In sharp contrast to the reception for Biden and Harris, Trump was greeted with loud cheers and chants of “U-S-A!”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) also encountered jeers when his arrival was announced shortly before Biden and Harris entered the room.
Despite the vocal disapproval, the Democratic leaders appeared unfazed, showing no visible reaction to the boos from the audience.
Trump’s inauguration marked the beginning of a new term following a contentious election, and supporters eagerly celebrated his return to the Oval Office.
