Political analysts are increasingly suggesting that President Joe Biden is deliberately undermining Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign for the 2024 presidential election.
This theory has emerged following Biden’s withdrawal from the race earlier this year, which some insiders attribute to pressure from senior party members over concerns about his cognitive abilities.
Since Biden stepped aside in July, his support for Harris has been minimal, consisting mainly of an endorsement. Critics note that he has largely been absent from her campaign events, raising questions about his commitment to her candidacy.
Moreover, Biden has consistently drawn attention away from Harris.
A notable example occurred last week when he made comments regarding the White House’s response to Hurricane Helene, even after Harris had canceled a campaign event in Las Vegas to return to Washington, D.C., for briefings on the storm.
Biden’s recent actions have fueled speculation about his loyalty to Harris. He was seen wearing a “Trump 2024” cap at a 9/11 anniversary event, an act that many observers found cringeworthy and provocative.
Additionally, he praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his handling of Hurricane Milton just one day after Harris claimed DeSantis did not return her call.
Jason Meister, a Republican political strategist associated with Trump’s campaign, accused Biden of seeking revenge against Harris for her role in his ousting.
“Biden is intentionally enacting revenge on Kamala for knifing him in the back,” Meister said, asserting that the president never liked Harris.
Veteran Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf characterized Biden’s reluctance to fully support Harris as a possible “power move.” He argued that Biden likely harbors resentment over how he was treated by party leaders, leading to his departure from the race.
“Why hasn’t he appeared in places where he could do some good, like parts of Pennsylvania? Nobody wants to give up being president of the United States,” Sheinkopf remarked, underscoring the complexity of Biden’s current political stance.
Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also weighed in, suggesting that Biden may secretly be rooting for Donald Trump’s success.
“Somewhere deep down inside, in a place that he doesn’t want to admit, I think maybe Joe Biden is actually rooting for it,” Ramaswamy said during a rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Ramaswamy reiterated his claims, suggesting that Biden feels “bruised” by his forced exit from the race. He speculated that Biden and his family may feel robbed of a second term.
In response to the growing narrative surrounding Harris’ campaign, Trump campaign spokesperson Caroline Sunshine stated that “Harris doesn’t need help sabotaging her campaign because she does that herself every time she speaks without a teleprompter.”
However, she acknowledged that there is “no daylight” between Biden and Harris regarding policy positions.
Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates defended Biden, insisting that the president has been supportive of Harris since stepping aside.
Bates asserted that Biden has consistently praised Harris’ leadership and is committed to their shared agenda, which he believes is crucial for the country’s future.
Another source within Biden’s camp claimed that the president was unaware of DeSantis’ refusal to take Harris’ call when he described the Florida governor as “gracious” and commended him for the state’s hurricane response.
This remark was seen as further evidence of the complicated dynamics between the president and his vice president.
As the campaign unfolds, the relationship between Biden and Harris remains under scrutiny, with many observers questioning whether the president’s actions will ultimately help or hinder her chances in the 2024 election.
