Shocking footage captures a man’s daring escape attempt as he leaps from his fifth-floor balcony into a pool to evade police.
In the heart-stopping moment, caught on camera, a police officer tries to pull him back over the ledge, but the man chooses to let go and plunges into the water below.
Witnesses were left astounded as the man emerged from the pool and continued to evade authorities, reportedly even running through a nearby back garden.
The video shows the man perched on the balcony ledge, assessing the drop beneath him. With a bold move, he swings himself off, dangling precariously from his fingertips. Despite climbing back to safety, he struggles to find purchase on the flat stone surface. When a police officer appears on the balcony, there’s a brief exchange before the man ultimately releases his grip, plummeting into the pool below amidst flailing arms and legs.
Authorities suspect the man was under the influence of illegal substances at the time, according to reports from 9news. Witnesses described the scene as unprecedented, with one neighbour expressing astonishment at the man’s behaviour.
Another witness, Seth, who observed the man fleeing through his garden, described the incident as unsettling and prompted him to call for medical assistance.
After fleeing the apartment complex, the man, believed to be in his 30s, headed straight to his parent’s house, where police eventually apprehended him later that afternoon.
As investigations continue, no charges have been filed against him yet. Remarkably, despite the gravity of his fall, the man is said to have sustained only minor injuries.
