Anya Taylor-Joy Praises Chris Hemsworth’s Kids as Future Action Stars: ‘They’re Going to Kill It’ (Exclusive)
Chris Hemsworth’s action star legacy may soon have some serious competition—from his children. The Australian actor, 40, shared with PEOPLE that his daughter, India Rose Hemsworth, 12, and twin sons, Sasha and Tristan Hemsworth, 10, are eager to join him in the action-packed movie world.
“I have to keep them on the sidelines,” Hemsworth says about his kids, who he shares with wife Elsa Pataky. “They’re always saying, ‘Give me a shot! I want to jump in there, jump in the truck and the bike,’ and so on.”
Hemsworth’s children had a front-row seat to his latest high-octane project, *Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga*. The film, now in theatres, is directed by George Miller and serves as a prequel to the 2015 blockbuster *Mad Max: Fury Road*. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy in the role initially played by Charlize Theron, the movie is filled with intense violence, explosions, and high-speed desert chases—not typical for kids, as Hemsworth acknowledges.
“They were on set… I know it’s not a kid’s movie, but they’ve seen it all,” Hemsworth admits. “For them, it’s like the smoke and mirrors. It’s a complete illusion, like a Halloween party. They were laughing through scenes meant to be terrifying.”
Anya Taylor-Joy, 28, also praises Hemsworth’s kids. “They’re such cool kids,” she says. Having met India, Sasha, and Tristan on the set and during the press tour for *Furiosa*, Taylor-Joy is confident they have what it takes to become future action stars. “They’re going to kill it,” she confirms. Hemsworth agrees, adding, “They’re not worried about the stunts.”
In two minor roles, Elsa Pataky, 47, also appears in *Furiosa*. At the film’s Australian premiere on May 1, Hemsworth and Pataky brought their sons onto the red carpet. “It was hard not to have them there,” Hemsworth explains. “We were kind of saying, ‘This is a Mom and Dad thing,’ but they insisted on coming.”
As for Taylor Joy’s family, her mother, Jennifer Marina Joy, is less enthusiastic about her daughter’s action roles. “My mom has a hard time watching my movies,” Taylor-Joy tells PEOPLE. “She needs to watch them a few times because she finds it traumatic at first and can’t quite separate.”
Taylor-Joy recounts her mother’s visits to her film sets, saying, “She’s always wondering, ‘What’s my role? When do I step in?'”
Reflecting on their careers, Taylor-Joy adds, “We do a crazy job. Thanks, Mom!”
*Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga*, starring Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, and Lachy Hulme, is in theatres now.
