Rapper Chris King was shot and killed in Nashville on April 20, along with several others who were injured. He was 32 years old.
Known for his close friendships with Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly, Keke Palmer, and Trippie Redd, King was with friends in an alley in downtown Nashville when shots were fired.
Moments before the shooting, a group of three men, unknown to King’s group, approached and attempted to rob them, as confirmed by the Nashville Police Department.
The surviving victim, a 29-year-old whose identity has not been disclosed by police, recounted that the group had been hanging out peacefully before the robbery attempt and subsequent gunfire.
Tragically, King, whose real name was Christopher Cheeks, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Authorities have stated that homicide unit detectives actively pursue leads in the investigation.
Following the heartbreaking news of King’s passing, his famous friends took to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute to the talented rapper.
Justin Bieber, who was once King’s roommate, shared his grief on Instagram, urging others to keep King’s family in their prayers.
Rapper Trippie Redd also shared his sorrow, emphasizing King’s pivotal role in his life and career.
Machine Gun Kelly described King as “rare,” while Keke Palmer reminisced about their shared journey in kickstarting their careers together.
King had been active in the music scene for over a decade, releasing several mixtapes and LPs. His notable works include the “Luck of the Snotty” series.
His final project, a song titled “Seeing Double Seeing Double,” was released on April 8, just weeks before his untimely death.
The rapper had been in Tennessee over the weekend to perform at the Nashville Cannafest on Friday night.
