Dublin, Ireland—Amazon has officially launched its dedicated Irish website, Amazon.ie. It allows customers in Ireland to shop from over 200 million products in euros, with faster deliveries and more straightforward returns.
The new platform will also feature a “Brands of Ireland” page, showcasing Irish businesses of all sizes, including Barry’s Tea, Bewley’s, and Ella & Jo.
This initiative is part of a collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, which aims to help local businesses expand their reach and scale their operations.
Before today’s launch, most Irish customers relied on Amazon sites in the UK or other European countries. With the introduction of Amazon.ie, users will avoid additional customs charges and currency conversion fees while benefiting from faster shipping and returns.
The launch follows Amazon’s expansion in Ireland, including opening a warehouse and distribution centre in Dublin in 2022, which created 500 jobs. At the time, the company indicated that the facility would serve as a foundation for an Ireland-specific site.
Irish customers can also now sign up for Prime on Amazon.ie for €6.99 per month, offering free delivery, exclusive deals, access to Prime Day sales, TV shows, movies, live sports, and free games on Prime Gaming.
Those switching from the UK will have their UK subscription automatically cancelled and refunded, and new members can try the service for a 30-day free trial.
Alison Dunn, Amazon’s Ireland Country Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our Fulfilment Centre in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland.”
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke welcomed the move, emphasizing its consumer and business benefits. “Amazon.ie provides even more opportunities for Irish businesses to reach global markets and help create domestic jobs.
Amazon is a significant contributor to the Irish economy, and today’s announcement powerfully underscores Amazon’s continued commitment to Ireland.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin highlighted the positive impact of Amazon’s expansion, stating that it will provide consumers with more choices and better value while helping businesses promote their products domestically and internationally.
Amazon employs approximately 6,500 people in Cork, Dublin, and Drogheda. In 2023, Irish SMEs selling on Amazon recorded over €170 million in export sales, with more than half of those sales outside the EU.
The launch of Amazon.ie marks a significant milestone in the company’s presence in Ireland, promising economic growth and increased opportunities for local businesses.
