The 22-year-old Air Force officer Madison Marsh became the first Miss America from the military, a historic accomplishment. After taking home the title in the yearly tournament on Sunday, Marsh was thrilled to represent stereotype-busting women.

Reflecting on her unique journey, Marsh said, “The sky is not the limit, and the only person stopping you is you.” She entered the pageant world while studying physics with a focus on astronomy at the Air Force Academy.

During the competition, Marsh addressed the loss of her mother to pancreatic cancer in 2018, inspiring her to establish the Whitney Marsh Foundation. This foundation aims to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research, aligning with Marsh’s career goals in cancer research and public policy.
