Celine Dion’s ongoing battle with Stiff-Person Syndrome has been a difficult journey, according to her sister Claudette.
In a recent interview, Claudette shared that the multiple Grammy winner struggles with controlling some muscle movements, which is heartbreaking for someone who has always been disciplined and hardworking.
Stiff-Person Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that causes painful muscle spasms and stiffness, making it difficult for patients to carry out their daily activities. Celine announced her diagnosis of the disease in 2022 and, as a result, had to postpone her highly anticipated Courage World Tour indefinitely in May 2023.
Despite the challenges, Claudette remains optimistic about the continuous hunt for treatments for the disease. Celine’s sister, Linda Dion, has moved into her home to help care for her three sons. Linda, Claudette, and Celine’s sons and aunt are actively involved in her treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery.
The goal for Celine and her family is to return to the stage, but in what capacity remains uncertain. For now, they are focused on finding ways to manage and improve the symptoms of Stiff-Person Syndrome and are grateful for the support of their loved ones and fans.
