A heartbreaking incident unfolded on Wednesday as a 41-year-old mother of two from central Indiana tragically passed away after falling ill on a flight bound for the United States from the Dominican Republic.

According to reports, the woman was aboard American Airlines Flight 2790 en route from Punta Cana to Charlotte, North Carolina, when her health suddenly deteriorated.

Crew members administered CPR on board, and the flight was diverted to the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British Overseas Territory situated southeast of the Bahamas.

Upon landing, medics and local authorities rushed to the aircraft, and the woman was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, as confirmed by a Facebook post from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force.

An official post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

American Airlines confirmed the flight diversion to Providenciales International Airport (PLS), where the woman was taken to the hospital. The airline further stated that the flight resumed its journey to Charlotte the following day.

While the passenger’s identity has not been publicly disclosed, sources have indicated that she was from central Indiana. A heartbreaking tribute on Facebook identified her as the sister-in-law of a woman named Stephanie Quinn, who expressed deep sorrow and described the deceased as a devoted mother and beloved family member.

As details continue to emerge, it remains unclear whether the woman was travelling with her children or other relatives at the time of the tragic incident.
