British Tourist Dies Mid-Flight from Falkland Islands to Chile
A British tourist tragically passed away while flying from the Falkland Islands to Chile, accompanied by his wife.
The 59-year-old, whose identity has not been disclosed, was onboard a LATAM flight to Punta Arenas on Saturday when the incident occurred.
Upon landing at Carlos Ibanez del Campo Airport, Chilean authorities were present, although there is no suspicion of foul play in connection with the man’s death.
Diego Díaz, Deputy Commissioner of the specialized unit in Punta Arenas, stated: “On Saturday, detectives from the Punta Arenas Homicide Brigade responded to Carlos Ibanez del Campo Airport following the passing of a 59-year-old British tourist onboard a plane en route from the Falkland Islands to Punta Arenas, where he was to catch a connecting flight to Santiago.”
The man’s wife was interviewed and mentioned that he had underlying health issues. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted today or tomorrow to ascertain the cause of death.
