RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Al Hilal FC defeated Inter Miami CF 4-3 in a friendly match at the Kingdom Arena on Monday as part of the Riyad Season Cup 2024. The Saudi Arabian club “The player scored the winning goal in the game’s final minutes.” the MLS side had levelled the score from two goals down.
The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute, when French striker Bafétimbi Gomis headed in a cross from Salem Al-Dawsari.
Al-Dawsari doubled the advantage in the 27th minute with a low shot from the edge of the box. Inter Miami CF pulled one back in the 34th minute when Luis Suárez converted a penalty after being fouled by Ali Al-Bulaihi.
The second half saw more goals and drama as Al Hilal restored their two-goal cushion in the 52nd minute, thanks to a volley from Peruvian winger André Carrillo.
However, Inter Miami CF showed their fighting spirit and equalised with two quick goals from Suárez and Federico Higuaín in the 64th and 66th minutes, respectively.
The match between Al Hilal and Inter Miami CF seemed to be heading for a draw. However, Al Hilal had the final say when Abdullah Al-Hamdan scored the decisive goal in the 89th minute.
Gomis played a clever pass to set up the winning goal. The final whistle sparked jubilation among the home fans, who witnessed a historic occasion for both clubs. This was the first time Inter Miami CF participated in an international tournament, and Al Hilal faced an MLS team.
