BEERSHEBA, Israel — Three people have been killed in southern Israel after an Iranian missile struck a residential building in the city of Beersheba, Israeli emergency services confirmed on Monday.
In an official update, Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service, reported that one woman and two men died at the scene. Two additional individuals were transported to hospital in moderate condition.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said air defence systems were actively engaged in intercepting multiple missiles fired towards Israel from Iran. “Our missile defence operations are ongoing, and we are working to identify the full scale of the attack,” an IDF spokesperson said.
The incident marks one of the most severe casualties reported in Israel following Iran’s latest round of missile attacks, which Tehran says are in retaliation for recent U.S. and Israeli military actions targeting its nuclear facilities.
The situation across the region remains tense, with both Israeli and Iranian officials warning of further escalation.
