Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a stark warning to the United States, declaring that any American involvement alongside Israeli strikes will “result in irreparable damage for them.”
The statement comes as tensions escalate sharply in the region following provocative remarks from former US President Donald Trump.
Khamenei Condemns Trump’s Threats
Ayatollah Khamenei denounced what he called “threatening and ridiculous statements” made by Trump, who demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender” amid mounting US military preparations to support Israel’s campaign against Iranian targets.
Trump, speaking on his Truth Social platform, also labelled Khamenei an “easy target” but claimed he would not order the leader’s assassination “at least for now.”
US Military Mobilisation in the Middle East
The US military is actively deploying warships and fighter jets to the Middle East. Senior officials have confirmed that strikes against Iranian targets—including nuclear facilities—remain “on the table” if the conflict intensifies.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump abruptly left the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada as the Iran-Israel crisis deepened.
Trump’s Statements Spark Alarm
On social media, Trump wrote, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding,” referring to Khamenei. “He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.”
He also declared his demand for Iran’s complete capitulation, posting: “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”
Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, warned that US intervention would be “a recipe for an all-out war,” heightening fears of a broader regional conflict.
Israel Expands Cyberwarfare Against Iran
In response, Israel has intensified its cyber operations with what officials describe as “massive” cyberattacks targeting Iran’s internet infrastructure and communication networks.
UK and US Response
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced he will chair an emergency meeting to address the escalating security situation. However, he told reporters he had heard “nothing” from Trump indicating plans for Western-led efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
Starmer reaffirmed the G7’s recent call for “de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza,” adding that he witnessed consensus on this during summit discussions.
Meanwhile, Trump convened with top national security advisers at the White House Situation Room on Tuesday afternoon.
Military Readiness and Civilian Warnings
Four American B-52 Stratofortress bombers, capable of carrying nuclear weapons, are stationed at the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean, ready to strike if ordered.
Trump also urged Tehran’s 9.5 million residents to evacuate for their safety, claiming on social media, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”
He added, “Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’”
Diplomatic Uncertainty
Trump’s latest hardline stance marks a sharp reversal from his earlier suggestion that a nuclear agreement with Iran was still possible. Reports indicate that just two days prior, he vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Ayatollah Khamenei, citing concerns about sparking uncontrollable conflict.
When questioned about the apparent tension between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Netanyahu responded cautiously: “I wouldn’t rush to conclusions.”
