Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, has reportedly been deported to Nigeria following his release from an ICE detention centre, according to a new report by US Weekly.
Guobadia, a Nigerian-American businessman who has spent over four decades in the United States, was allegedly sent back to his home country just days ago, amid a broader immigration enforcement effort by U.S. authorities. The news was confirmed by his close associate and business partner, Tai Savet, who told US Weekly that Guobadia is “in good spirits” despite the ordeal.
“He’s never been behind bars before,” Savet was quoted as saying, adding that the experience at the detention centre was a first for the 61-year-old entrepreneur.
Guobadia’s immigration troubles began surfacing publicly in February, when reports emerged that he had been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the federal agency responsible for immigration law enforcement. ICE has stepped up detention and deportation operations in recent years, particularly during and after the Trump administration’s hardline stance on immigration.
His deportation now adds a new layer of controversy to the ongoing legal drama between him and Porsha Williams. The couple married in a lavish ceremony on 25 November 2022, but their relationship quickly became strained, culminating in a protracted divorce case. Guobadia reportedly missed a scheduled court hearing on 30 April this year due to his detention status.
Guobadia, who has not posted on his Instagram account since February, has yet to release a public statement about his deportation.
Born on June 2, 1964, in Nigeria, Simon Iyore Guobadia is the son of Stanley Guobadia, a former official with the Nigerian Prison Service, and Martina Guobadia, an English teacher. He spent his early years in Nigeria, attending Loyola Jesuit College in Ibadan and later Government College Ughelli in Delta State.
In 1982, he immigrated to the United States, and in 1993, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C.

Guobadia’s business career has spanned multiple industries. He is best known as the founder of SIMCOL Petroleum, a regional fuel distribution company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2017, he ventured into the hospitality sector, launching Simon’s Restaurant in Midtown Atlanta. However, the establishment closed in May 2020 due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

His deportation follows closely on the heels of another high-profile ICE case involving TikTok superstar Khaby Lame, who voluntarily departed the U.S. after being detained by the agency.
While Guobadia’s future in the U.S. remains uncertain, the impact of his sudden removal may ripple through both his personal life and business ventures in Atlanta.
