Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has officially rejected a lucrative offer to join Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal, bringing an end to months of speculation linking him with a move to the Middle East.
The Napoli forward, who spent the 2024–25 season on loan at Turkish giants Galatasaray, has reportedly made clear that his focus remains firmly on continuing his career in Europe.
Osimhen Turns Down Mega Deal
As reported by M10News and confirmed by sources including talkSPORT, Osimhen declined a record-breaking offer worth approximately £650,000 per week from Al-Hilal, a club currently preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 18. The deal would have made him one of the highest-paid footballers globally, with Al-Hilal willing to cover full relocation, medical, and signing arrangements for the Nigerian striker.
The deadline for Osimhen’s decision passed this weekend, with his representatives informing Al-Hilal that the striker would not be accepting the contract.
“Case Closed”: Saudi Pursuit Ends
Club officials at Al-Hilal have now moved on from Osimhen after what one source close to the negotiation described as a “final and definitive no” from the player’s camp. “Case closed,” the source told M10News. “Victor was grateful for the interest, but his heart is set on continuing to challenge himself at the highest level in Europe.”
Al-Hilal had made Osimhen a top priority following their league success and are now exploring other high-profile targets including Darwin Núñez, Richarlison, Bernardo Silva, and Youri Tielemans.
Focus Shifts to European Giants
The 26-year-old’s decision has reignited interest from major European clubs. M10News understands that Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Chelsea have all maintained active scouting reports on Osimhen, while Manchester United continue to monitor his status amid their search for a proven striker.
His successful loan spell at Galatasaray, where he netted 26 goals in 30 appearances and helped the club to a Turkish Cup triumph, has only heightened demand for his signature.
A senior official at Galatasaray told M10News: “Victor adapted seamlessly both on and off the pitch. His professionalism, hunger, and connection with the fans were exceptional. We’d love to retain him, but he’s destined for another elite-level challenge.”
Osimhen’s Long-Term Vision
Osimhen, who played a key role in Napoli’s Serie A title-winning campaign in 2023, has always been vocal about his desire to compete at the top level of the game. Despite the financial lure of the Saudi Pro League, sources close to the player say he views a move there as “premature” at this stage of his career.
“He has unfinished business in the Champions League and wants to win trophies in Europe,” a source familiar with the player’s thinking told M10News.
The striker, who remains a hero in Nigeria for his international exploits, has also been linked with a long-term ambition of playing in the Premier League, a dream he hinted at during a media interview last year.
What’s Next?
With Napoli now fielding interest from multiple clubs and Osimhen’s market value estimated at around €100 million, a summer transfer appears increasingly likely. However, M10News understands that the player will not rush a decision and is prioritising a club that offers both Champions League football and a system where he can thrive.
For now, one thing is certain: the Saudi route has been closed — and Osimhen’s next chapter will be written in Europe.
