In a recent interview with Kuwaiti podcaster Amar Taki, Khaled Mashal, a senior Hamas official, firmly rejected the possibility of a two-state solution. Mashal proudly claims that the October 7th attack demonstrated the potential to expand Palestinian territory and eliminate Israel. Coexistence between Gazans and Israelis is deemed impossible by him.
The Oct. 7 attack on Israel, resulting in over 1,200 casualties, mainly civilians, serves as a clear message from Hamas about its capability to destroy the Jewish state.
Mashal openly states that Hamas, in power since 2007, was never intended to govern Gaza merely but to bring about the destruction of Israel.
Mashal’s refusal to entertain peace talks with Israelis indicates that the conflict in Gaza may persist until one of the factions is eliminated.
Public.
Israel, vowing to eradicate Hamas, has imposed a siege on Gaza, leading to the deaths of over 25,000 Palestinians, according to the local terrorist-run health ministry. Entire towns in Gaza have been nearly obliterated in the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, Mashal and other Hamas leaders reside in luxury in Qatar, while the people in Gaza face poverty and are used as human shields. According to the Israeli government, Mashal’s wealth is estimated to exceed $4 billion.
Despite international pressure for a two-state solution, Mashal and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu have rejected this approach.
Netanyahu, in particular, emphasises that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) will continue airstrikes and advances in Gaza until more than 130 hostages are freed and Hamas is eradicated.
