Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly received a “major” and “tempting” offer to leave Saudi Arabia and could be set for a shock move to Brazil.
The 40-year-old, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023 after leaving Manchester United for a second time.
Despite being prolific in front of goal – scoring 97 times in 109 games, the club has endured a disappointing season, failing to win any trophies or qualify for the Asian Champions League.
Ronaldo has been visibly frustrated in recent weeks and is said to have stormed out of the stadium after Al-Nassr’s recent defeat to Al-Ittihad.
According to Marca, the Portugal star has received a transfer offer that would allow him to compete in this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States.
The tournament, running from 14 June to 13 July, will feature four Brazilian sides – Palmeiras, Fluminense, Flamengo and Botafogo – although the club linked with Ronaldo has not been named.
He was reportedly close to extending his stay at Al-Nassr earlier this year, but the latest reports suggest the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star may now be considering a move.
In a career spanning more than two decades, Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or awards and become the all-time top scorer in the Champions League.
During his first spell at Manchester United, he won three Premier League titles and the Champions League before moving to Real Madrid, where he scored 450 goals in 438 games and added four more European titles.
He later joined Juventus, helping the Italian giants to three Serie A titles and scoring over 100 goals before returning to Old Trafford in 2021.
Ronaldo was named the world’s highest-paid athlete last week by Forbes, topping the list for the third year in a row. His estimated total earnings rose by $15m to $275m (£206m).
NBA stars Stephen Curry and LeBron James were also on the list, along with Tyson Fury and Ronaldo’s long-time rival Lionel Messi.
