Conor McGregor has declared his intention to run for Ireland’s President, making the announcement on Instagram while wearing a ‘Make Ireland Great Again’ cap.
In his post, McGregor addressed the EU Migration Pact, which requires full implementation by June 12, 2026.
He stated that several pieces of legislation must be passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas and signed by the President between now and that date.

McGregor wrote: “The next presidential election must take place by November 11, 2025. Who else will stand up to the Government and oppose this bill? Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them. I will!”
He also vowed that if elected, he would propose a referendum on the bill, adding: “Although I greatly oppose this pact, it is neither mine nor the Government’s choice to make. It is the people of Ireland’s choice! Always! That is true democracy!”
McGregor followed up on social media platform X, writing: “Ireland, the choice is yours and it is an easy one.
Vote for me as your President and we will SAVE IRELAND TOGETHER!”
The announcement comes shortly after McGregor’s controversial White House visit, where he claimed that Ireland is facing an “illegal immigration racket ravaging our country.”
During the visit, McGregor posed for photos with Donald Trump in the Oval Office, where the two shook hands and smiled for cameras.

However, McGregor’s remarks were condemned by Irish political figures, including Taoiseach Micheál Martin, who criticized the comments as being out of step with the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and the values of the Irish people.
McGregor’s announcement also follows his involvement in a civil case last November, where he was found liable for raping Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018.
The court awarded £200,000 in damages to Ms. Hand, who later told the Irish Mail that she had received overwhelming support during the trial.
In response to the verdict, McGregor denied the claims, calling Ms. Hand a “vicious liar” and stating: “APPEAL!”
