Kandice Barber, a former teacher at Princes Risborough School in Buckinghamshire, has been banned from the profession for life after having sex with a 15-year-old boy. Barber was jailed for six years and two months in 2021 for her crimes.

The married mother-of-three from Wendover, Buckinghamshire, professed her innocence despite being convicted. She threatened her victim and told him she would “take him down” if he told anyone.

Barber Seduced the Boy with Explicit Messages and Topless Photos

Barber seduced the boy with explicit messages and topless photos, which was branded as “beyond despicable” by the trial judge. She flirted with the teen during a school assembly and sent other texts like “Do you like boobs or bum?”. Barber also sent a photo of herself on a bed surrounded by sex toys. The teaching standards panel heard she texted the teen on Snapchat: “You cannot make me blush while I am teaching now, poker face lol.”

Barber Threatened Her Victim

Barber told her victim she would “take him down” if he said senior members of staff. Her behaviour only came to light when one photo ended on the headteacher’s desk because so many people saw it. As a result, the child had become withdrawn and confined himself to his room. Her grooming and sexual exploitation of him were followed by threats and manipulation, demonstrating a callous and selfish disregard for her pupil’s wellbeing.

Barber Banned from the Classroom for Life Teacher

The Teaching Regulation Agency hearing found that Barber’s conduct was so egregious and harmful that it was fundamentally incompatible with her being allowed to teach in future. Sarah Buxcey, the education secretary, said that the lack of evidence of insight or remorse means there is some risk of repeating this behaviour, which puts the pupils’ future wellbeing at risk. The panel decided that the public interest considerations outweighed Barber’s interests.

Barber’s behaviour was beyond reprehensible and has resulted in her being banned from the profession for life. Her actions have caused significant harm to her victim and have demonstrated a complete disregard for his wellbeing. The public would rightly be appalled by her behaviour.
