Washington, D.C. — Lauren Sánchez is standing firm amid backlash over her controversial inauguration outfit, which featured a peekaboo lace bra paired with a white pantsuit.
The 55-year-old pilot and media personality subtly addressed the criticism by “liking” supportive comments on her Instagram post-Tuesday.
One comment read, “Girl, you ate that inaugural look, so don’t pay attention to no haters,” adding that the “only opinion that matters is your own and Jeff’s.” Another praised Sánchez as “an inspiration to many women,” which also earned a like from the former news anchor.
While Sánchez has yet to post photos of her inauguration-day ensemble, she did share images of her ethereal gown worn to the inaugural ball.
The strapless black Dolce and Gabbana dress drew praise from high-profile commenters, including Kris Jenner, who called her “stunning,” and Paris Hilton, who left a heart-eye emoji.
Bethenny Frankel also raved about Sánchez’s “extreme hotness” during her “magical evening” at Washington, D.C.’s National Building Museum.
However, Sánchez’s inauguration outfit sparked strong opinions. Christine Quinn, former star of “Selling Sunset,” mocked the look on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Jeff Bezos’s wife strutting into the presidential inauguration in lingerie with her chesticles hoisted like NASA was launching them into orbit? Peak ‘Selling Sunset’ energy.”
Former “Good Morning America” host Amy Robach also weighed in on her and T.J. Holmes’ podcast, calling the outfit “a lot to look at” before adding, “To each their own.”
Sánchez, who got engaged to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2023, has not commented directly on the criticism. Instead, her quiet engagement with positive comments suggests she is choosing to focus on the support rather than the negativity surrounding her bold fashion choice.
