The medical cause of death for former One Direction star Liam Payne has been confirmed as ‘polytrauma’ following an inquest in the UK.
Polytrauma is a term used to describe multiple traumatic injuries that affect a person’s body and organ systems. The 31-year-old singer tragically fell from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, earlier this year.
The inquest, which was held on December 17 at Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court, revealed that it would take some time to establish how exactly Payne fell from the balcony. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
Meanwhile, five individuals have been charged in connection with Payne’s death. The charges include manslaughter against the hotel manager, a receptionist, and Payne’s friend. The accused individuals are reported to be Gilda Martin, the hotel manager; Esteban Grassi, the receptionist; and Roger Nores, Payne’s friend.
Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the charges in a statement, noting that the investigation into Payne’s tragic fall continues.
