Mia Goth is being sued by background actor James Hunter, who claims that she kicked him in the head on purpose while they were filming the A24 sequel “MaXXXine” in April of last year.
Hunter cast as the “Dead Parishioner” for a three-day stint, found himself lying on the ground for hours covered in fake blood during the first night of shooting, enduring challenges like ants and mosquitoes.
The scene involved Goth running past Hunter, sometimes stepping over him, looking down, and continuing to run. However, on the fourth take, Goth allegedly nearly stepped on him. Hunter voiced his concerns to the second assistant director, and they were reportedly communicated to Goth. Despite this, during the subsequent take, the lawsuit claims Goth deliberately kicked Hunter in the head with her boot.
After completing the scene, Hunter alleges that he was in the bathroom when Goth entered and subjected him to taunts, mockery, and belittlement, daring him to respond. Hunter experienced pain in his head, aggravated by the dried fake blood on his robe when he removed it. During his drive home, he felt lightheaded, having to pull over twice. The following day, the casting agency informed him that the production did not want him back for the remaining two days.
The lawsuit not only accuses Goth of battery but also includes a wrongful termination claim against A24, Mia Goth, and director Ti West, amplifying the legal complexity surrounding the incident.
