A new social media post from Vice President Kamala Harris’ niece, Meena Harris, has offered a glimpse into the Democratic nominee’s life following her recent defeat to former President Donald Trump in the presidential election.

The post, shared by Meena on Saturday, shows Harris relaxing and spending time with family, marking a shift in her public presence after the intense campaign season.

With a glass of white wine, Harris wears a sweatshirt from her alma mater, Howard University, symbolising her roots and connection to her past. Meena, a lawyer and media executive who frequently uses her platform to support her aunt, captioned the photos with heartfelt words: “Back to where it all began only a few months ago. My eternal gratitude to everyone who showed up. We love her so much.”

Support poured in from Harris’ followers and supporters in the comment section, with many expressing admiration and encouragement. “So grateful for her. Despite a strong campaign and fundraising efforts, Harris ultimately fell short of winning on Election Day. While she succeeded President Biden as the Democratic candidate in late July and outpaced Trump in fundraising, the final results were precise. On Wednesday, Trump reclaimed the White House with 312 electoral votes, comfortably winning all seven swing states and the popular vote.

On Wednesday, at Howard University’s campus, Harris delivered a concession speech filled with encouragement and resilience. “It is OK to feel sad and disappointed, but please know it’s going to be OK,” she told her supporters. Harris added, reflecting on her campaign’s slogan, “When we fight, we win. But here’s the thing: Sometimes, the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win.”

Closing her remarks, Harris encouraged her audience to hold onto their power and purpose. “The important thing is, don’t give up,” she said. “Don’t ever stop trying to make the world a better place. You have power, and don’t you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before.”
