Adele has opened up about her struggles with a painful ear infection that has left her partially deaf in one ear. The 36-year-old singer shared details of her health battle during a concert in Las Vegas, describing the pain as “worse than childbirth.”
The Grammy winner contracted a rare water bacteria while in Munich in August for a ten-day residency. “I have an ear infection, which is pretty grim. I’ve never had one before. It’s the most painful thing that’s ever, ever happened to me,” she explained to her audience.
Adele revealed that she had initially been prescribed the wrong antibiotics, leading her to consider drastic measures. “I wanted to chop my ear off a few times,” she confessed. Fortunately, after receiving the correct treatment, she noted, “I’m no longer in pain, which is great, but I’m a bit deaf in my left ear!”
This isn’t the first time the “Hello” singer has discussed her health issues. In 2013, she opened up about experiencing a fungal skin condition due to performing under hot stage lights at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, admitting, “I just sit in my own sweat” while wearing Spanx during shows.
In a heart-warming moment during her recent concert, Adele became emotional after spotting Celine Dion in the audience. The two icons shared a hug as Adele expressed her admiration, visibly shaken with emotion. She has previously shared that her most cherished possession is a framed piece of chewing gum that belonged to Celine, highlighting the deep admiration she holds for the fellow singer.
