Campinas, São Paulo — In a shocking altercation caught on CCTV, Playboy model Ana Paula Leme, 47, was seen delivering a powerful kick to a policeman’s groin outside a petrol station convenience store in Brazil.
The incident, which took place in July 2023 in Campinas, São Paulo, escalated from a heated dispute with staff after Leme allegedly threatened and berated employees in a drunken outburst.
Footage shows Leme being escorted outside by police officers after the store called authorities to manage the situation. Once outside, Leme reportedly lashed out, landing kicks on the officer’s arm, knee, and ultimately his groin. Following the assault, officers managed to subdue her and loaded her into the police vehicle as the injured officer doubled over in pain.
According to local reports, the situation began when Leme pulled up to the petrol station in her Jeep Renegade and entered the convenience store visibly intoxicated. Witnesses claimed she had been drinking beer, and her behaviour quickly became erratic. After ordering a snack, Leme allegedly expressed dissatisfaction by throwing it onto the counter, demanding a replacement, and refusing to pay for the food.
Witnesses further stated that Leme insulted a staff member, referring to a petrol pump attendant as a “fat mango” — local slang for a muscular man — and allegedly encouraged an officer to “eat him” in a bizarre tirade. Staff, frustrated with her behaviour, followed her outside, where the argument continued, prompting the police to arrive on the scene.
When officers attempted to arrest her, Leme resisted violently, reportedly delivering kicks to an officer’s arm, knee, and groin. She was detained and charged with drunk driving, resisting arrest, and contempt.
At her trial, Leme was sentenced to 15 months in prison, though senior judge Chaiane Maria Bublitz Korte allowed her defence team to appeal the decision. Leme was later released on £192 bail while awaiting the appeal process. Her lawyer, Caroliny Chang Rodrigues, argued that a “complete absence of robust evidence” supported the charges and announced plans to seek acquittal in a higher court.
Ana Paula Leme, a regular on Brazilian reality TV shows and an Instagram personality with nearly 200,000 followers, claims she acted in self-defence during the incident and continues to contest the charges against her.
