Former Real Madrid defender Vinicius Tobias, who currently plays for Shakhtar Donetsk, made headlines after getting a tattoo of his newborn daughter’s name on his arm. However, he later found out through a DNA test that he was not the biological father.
Tobias, 20, and his ex-wife, influencer Ingrid Lima, welcomed a baby girl named Maite on October 8. In celebration of her birth, Tobias got a tattoo on his arm that read, “Maite, I love you.”
However, in a surprising turn of events, Ingrid publicly revealed that a paternity test confirmed that the footballer is not the child’s biological father.
In a social media post, Ingrid addressed the situation and explained that during her on-off relationship with Tobias, both had moved on with other partners at different times. This led to uncertainty about Maite’s paternity.
She wrote, “Vinicius and I haven’t been together for a while. During that time, I was in a relationship with someone, and so was he. We both moved on with our lives. In the meantime, Maite came along.”
After deciding to do a DNA test to clarify the matter, Ingrid confirmed the result: “Maite is not Vinicius’ daughter.” The social media revelation has put Tobias under public scrutiny, a situation he has not yet commented on.
Tobias, a promising right-back from Brazil, gained recognition early in his career and was compared to football stars like Dani Alves and Trent Alexander-Arnold. His performance in the U15 South American Championships 2019, where he scored in the final against Argentina, attracted interest from major European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid.
Shakhtar Donetsk eventually signed Tobias for £6 million, and Real Madrid later secured him on loan in 2022. During his two-year stint in Madrid, he made one appearance for the senior team before returning to Shakhtar for the 2024/25 season, where he has played five matches so far.
This unexpected personal development has shocked many. Tobias now faces the emotional fallout of the DNA test revelation amidst his professional football career, which evokes empathy from all who hear his story.
