James Morrison’s Partner Gill Catchpole Dies: What We Know So Far
James Morrison, the British singer-songwriter, is mourning the loss of his long-term partner, Gill Catchpole, who passed away on Friday, January 5th, 2024, at their family home in Whitminster, Gloucestershire. She was 45 years old.
The cause of her death has not been disclosed, but according to a family friend, there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Morrison and Catchpole had been together since he was 17, and the couple had two daughters, Elsie and Ada. The title track of his album, Stronger Than You Know, was inspired by how Gill bounced back after Ada was born prematurely. Gill Catchpole ran a catering business and café and had recently undergone a kidney transplant.
Morrison is said to be “devastated” by the loss of his partner, who he described as his “hero.” His family is supporting him and has asked for privacy as they grieve. The couple got together after she moved into his mother’s house as a lodger with a then-boyfriend, and Morrison began serenading her with songs to impress her.
