Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso has joined OnlyFans after her controversial departure from the Olympic Village during the 2024 Summer Games in Paris.
The 20-year-old athlete, who retired from competitive swimming following her performance at the games, recently shared a link to her OnlyFans profile on social media, according to TMZ. She reportedly charges $35 per month for exclusive content on the platform.
Alonso made headlines during the Paris Olympics for her performance in the pool and alleged behaviour outside of competition. On July 27, she failed to qualify for the 100-meter butterfly semifinal, finishing sixth in her heat and missing the cut by just 0.24 seconds. Alonso remained in the Olympic Village, which is allowed for athletes who have completed their events.
However, the Paraguayan Olympic Committee accused Alonso of creating an “inappropriate” environment for Team Paraguay, leading to her being asked to leave the Village. The head of the committee, Larissa Schaerer, released a statement to *The Sun* on August 5, saying, “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.”
Reports also suggested that Alonso upset team leadership by taking trips outside the Village, including a visit to Disneyland Paris, instead of staying to support her teammates. The Daily Mail reported that her “skimpy clothing” and socialising with other athletes became distractions.
In response to these accusations, Alonso took to social media to address “false information” and denied being expelled from the Village. “I just wanted to clarify that I was never removed or expelled from anywhere. She wrote, ” stop spreading false information,” according to the Daily Beast. She added that while she did not wish to make an official statement, she would not let lies affect her.
Following her Olympic performance and the controversy, Alonso announced her retirement from competitive swimming. She was disappointed after failing to advance in the women’s 100-meter butterfly.
Alonso’s decision to join OnlyFans follows a trend of athletes turning to the subscription-based platform, which allows users to sell and purchase original content. Many athletes have openly shared their experiences using the platform as a source of additional income.
The controversy surrounding Alonso’s departure from the Olympic Village has only increased public interest in her career and post-Olympic ventures.
