The Silt Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred Saturday night at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, involving U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert and her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert.

According to Silt Police Chief Mike Kite, the investigation is ongoing, and the police are still gathering facts.

The incident occurred at the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt, and the police were called to the scene. However, Chief Kite declined to provide any details about the nature of the incident or the accusations. He also confirmed that no one was taken into custody at the restaurant.

Lauren Boebert’s campaign manager issued a statement to The Denver Post denying that the congresswoman punched her ex-husband and stating that no one was arrested. However, Jayson Boebert did call the Silt Police Department on Sunday morning to report the incident. Later, he told The Denver Post that he did not want to press charges and that he and his ex-wife were having a difficult conversation.

The divorce between Lauren Boebert and Jayson Boebert was finalised in October 2023, and the couple has four sons and one grandchild. Both Lauren Boebert and Jayson Boebert have law enforcement records. Lauren Boebert has been arrested and summoned for petty crimes at least four times before being elected to Congress. In contrast, Jayson Boebert was arrested in 2004 for public indecency and lewd exposure.

Lauren Boebert was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020 to represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District and won re-election in 2022. Her tenure has been controversial, including being escorted out of a production of “Beetlejuice” in September 2023 after other patrons complained about her vaping and disruptive behaviour.

Last month, Boebert announced that she would be running in the 4th Congressional District to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ken Buck. Her campaign manager confirmed that she intends to move to the 4th Congressional District, but he did not have a specific location or timeline.

This is a developing story, and the Silt Police Department will release its report on the incident once the investigation concludes.
