Iran Prepared to Fire Ballistic Missiles at Israel Amid IDF Incursion into Lebanon, US Official Warns

Iran is poised to launch ballistic missiles at Israel in response to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ground operations in Lebanon, according to a senior U.S. official.

Tehran’s alleged retaliation follows Israel’s military advancements against the Hezbollah militant group.

“We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack,” the official told the Post, adding that a direct strike by Iran would have “severe consequences.”

The U.S. has already mobilised additional troops and deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier to the region to assist Israel in intercepting potential threats from Iran. The last such attack occurred in April when Iran launched over 330 drones and missiles toward Israel.

IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari confirmed that Israel is aware of Iran’s warnings but noted that, as of Tuesday morning, no aerial threats had been launched from Iran.

Hagari reassured that the IDF is fully prepared to employ both defensive and offensive strategies to counter any attack, echoing the U.S. statement regarding severe repercussions for Iran.

In light of the threat, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF have urged citizens to adhere to the “Home Front Command” safety guidelines.

This protocol calls for civilians to remain within 90 seconds of a protective shelter in case of an attack. The safety advisory has been extended to central Israel and Jerusalem and will remain in effect until October 5.

In a public address, Netanyahu called on the nation to unite. “I ask of you two things: To follow the Home Front Command’s directives strictly.

It saves lives. Second, we must stand together. We will stand firm together in the trying days ahead. Together, we will stand, together we will fight, and together we will win.”

The situation remains tense as Israel and the U.S. prepare for potential escalations.
