Megan Thee Stallion Leads with 12 Nominations for 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards; Fat Joe Returns as Host
The BET Hip Hop Awards have unveiled the nominations for their fourth edition, with Megan Thee Stallion leading the pack with 12 nods.
The highly anticipated show will occur in Las Vegas on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, and will air a week later on October 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the BET channel.
Returning for his third consecutive year as host, rapper Fat Joe expressed his excitement in a statement: “Joe Crack is back for the three-peat… It’s been a dream to host the BET Hip Hop Awards the past few years, and I’m looking forward to taking things to the next level in Las Vegas.”
Kendrick Lamar follows closely behind Megan with 11 nominations, while Drake secured eight.
Cardi B, GloRilla, Metro Boomin, and Nicki Minaj each earned seven nominations, with Future and Travis Scott earning six.
21 Savage and 41 received four nominations. At the same time, A$AP Rocky, Common, Lil Wayne, Pete Rock, and Sexyy Red garnered three.
In a historic moment, women have achieved equal representation with men in the “Hip-Hop Artist of the Year” category, introduced in 2020.
The nominees include Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, GloRilla, and Nicki Minaj, alongside male contenders 21 Savage, Drake, Future, and Kendrick Lamar.
Afrobeat’s artists Odumodublvck and Burna Boy, who represent Nigeria, are also in the spotlight. Odumodu is nominated for “Best International Flow,” while Burna Boy is running for “Best Live Performance.”
