Three police officers were injured in an altercation at Manchester Airport’s Terminal Two on Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of three individuals, one of whom was tasered by police.

Greater Manchester Police reported that the incident occurred when officers inspected an abandoned, uninsured vehicle parked in an unauthorized space at the airport.

As officers approached the vehicle, they were confronted by the car’s owners, which escalated into a violent encounter.

During the scuffle, two male officers and one female officer sustained injuries.

To control the situation, a Taser was deployed, and three suspects—a man and two women—were subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting the police. They have since been bailed as investigations continue.

Greater Manchester Police stated the incident: “At around 7:15 a.m., patrolling officers inspected an abandoned vehicle in an unauthorized space at Manchester Airport. While conducting enquiries – which found the vehicle was uninsured – officers were confronted by a man during which three of our unarmed officers were assaulted and left with injuries.”

The statement further confirmed that the three suspects were taken into custody following the deployment of a Taser. “They have all been bailed pending further investigations.

Enquiries are underway, including a review of body-worn video, CCTV, and other available footage.”

The police force condemned the assaults on the officers, stating: “Assaults on officers are unacceptable, and we will not hesitate to take action should any criminal offences be found.”

The incident underscores the risks law enforcement officers face in the line of duty and the importance of ensuring their safety while maintaining public order.
