A 52-year-old British Airways steward fainted and unfortunately died only seconds before a flight from London Heathrow to Hong Kong was set to take off on December 30. The attendant, helping people find their seats, collapsed to the floor. Despite a brave attempt by a passenger to revive him, the steward was pronounced dead at the site.
Upon the captain’s urgent request for medical assistance, emergency services promptly responded, but unfortunately, their efforts were in vain, and the steward could not be revived. Described as a family man with no reported underlying health issues, the steward’s untimely passing deeply saddened the BA flying team.
The flight, BA31, experienced an overnight delay, leading to passengers being accommodated in local hotels. Departing on the evening of New Year’s Eve with a new set of pilots and crew, the plane successfully landed in Hong Kong around 12.25 pm local time on December 31, as indicated by FlightRadar24.
A spokesperson from British Airways extended heartfelt condolences, emphasizing that the airline’s thoughts are with the steward’s friends and family during this sorrowful time. The London Ambulance Service also released a statement confirming the steward’s unfortunate passing despite the dedicated efforts of their emergency crews.
