CNN anchor Kasie Hunt expressed concerns about the upcoming joint appearance of President Biden and Vice President Harris, scheduled for Thursday in Maryland.

Hunt voiced her reservations on air, suggesting that the event might feel “uncomfortable” and questioning the necessity of their simultaneous appearance.

The White House has announced that Biden and Harris will travel to Maryland to highlight their administration’s healthcare achievements and efforts to reduce costs for Americans.

Despite this, Hunt suggested that the event could be a “passing of the torch moment” for Harris, who is seen as trying to distinguish herself from Biden, particularly on economic issues.

Hunt’s comments come amid reports that Biden faces significant pressure from his party and is still dealing with dissatisfaction from prominent Democratic figures.

This pressure, coupled with polling suggesting Biden might lose to former President Trump, has fueled speculation about the dynamics between Biden and Harris.

Brad Woodhouse, a senior advisor to the Democratic National Committee, dismissed concerns about the uncomfortable event, framing it as a celebration of a significant administration success—reducing drug prices.

However, Hunt highlighted the challenge Harris faces in balancing her vice-president role while trying to establish her own political identity.

She also noted that Trump is scheduled to hold a press conference immediately after the Biden-Harris event, suggesting that the former president could exploit any awkwardness.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed questions about the Biden-Harris relationship, emphasizing that the two leaders have been closely aligned throughout their administrations. Jean-Pierre assured reporters that Harris would present her vision while continuing to support Biden’s accomplishments.

The Harris campaign has not yet responded to requests for comment on the potential tension surrounding the upcoming event.
