Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a warning stating that any aggression against Israel will result in severe consequences.
This warning follows recently confirmed strikes that led to the deaths of top Hezbollah and Hamas commanders.
Netanyahu’s warning came after a thorough assessment meeting with senior generals and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Home Front Command officers. The strikes that prompted his warning targeted Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, and Muhammad Deif, a high-ranking Hamas leader.
Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin, had orchestrated a drone attack over the weekend that resulted in the deaths of 12 children and teens at a soccer field in the Golan Heights. He was killed in an IDF strike on Tuesday in southern Beirut. Meanwhile, Muhammad Deif, who played a crucial role in planning and executing the October 7 Hamas terror attacks on Israel, was confirmed dead following an IDF strike in Gaza on July 13.
These attacks, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 hostages, were a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
In response to Deif’s death, Netanyahu stated, “His elimination underscores a simple principle which we have set: Whoever harms us, we will harm them.”
The situation in the region has been further exacerbated by the recent assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Although Israel has not publicly claimed responsibility for the killing, both Iran and Hamas have accused the Jewish state of being involved. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has declared it “Iran’s duty to avenge Haniyeh’s blood,” asserting that the assassination occurred on Iranian soil.
Netanyahu’s warning underscores Israel’s stance on maintaining high readiness for any defensive and offensive scenarios, emphasizing that aggressive actions against the country will be met with significant consequences.
