Former President Donald Trump has expressed strong opposition to invoking the 25th Amendment against President Joe Biden, suggesting that it would be more perilous to elevate Vice President Kamala Harris to the presidency. During a “Fox & Friends” interview, Trump criticized Harris, calling her “real garbage” and asserting that she is “worse” than Biden.
Trump argued against using the 25th Amendment, noting that Biden’s term is nearing its end. “I don’t think they should use the 25th Amendment. Not long to go, you know, we have four months now, and then he’s got another month and a half,” Trump said. He then shifted focus to Harris, declaring that her potential presidency would be more dangerous. “I believe she’s a San Francisco radical. I believe she’s much worse and a way worse candidate than he is,” he added.
When asked if America could endure a Harris presidency, Trump responded unequivocally: “No.” He criticized both Biden and Harris’ debate performances during the 2020 primaries, describing Harris as “horrible” and “nasty” towards Biden. Trump questioned Biden’s decision to select Harris as his running mate, describing her as the “meanest” candidate who treated Biden poorly during the debates.
Trump also reacted to Harris’ recent remarks, in which she referred to him as a “predator.” He dismissed her comments as “disgusting” and expressed frustration, saying, “I think it’s disgusting… I’m dealing against real garbage when you hear that.”
These remarks come shortly after Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, accused the Democratic Party of attempting a “coup” against Biden. Vance argued that if Biden is unfit to serve, the 25th Amendment should be invoked, emphasizing that political convenience should not dictate such decisions.
The interview aired Monday, shortly before news broke that Biden was withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race and endorsing Kamala Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee.
