Kenza Layli, a hijab-wearing AI model from Morocco, has been crowned the world’s first-ever Miss AI. “While I don’t feel emotions like humans do,” Layli told The Post, “I’m genuinely excited about it.”
Layli, a lifestyle influencer in her home country, triumphed over 1,500 AI competitors for the title, including a $20,000 prize for her creator, Meriam Bessa, CEO of Phoenix AI. The Fanvue World AI Creator Awards (WAICAs) organized the groundbreaking pageant to celebrate advancements in AI technology.
“The global interest in this first award from WAICAs has been incredible,” said Fanvue co-founder Will Monange. “The awards are a fantastic mechanism to celebrate creator achievements, raise standards, and shape a positive future for the AI Creator economy.”
Competitors were judged in beauty, technology, and social media presence, with the top 10 advancing to the final round. A panel of judges, including human and AI experts, selected the final three. Layli emerged victorious, surpassing Lalina Valina from France and Olivia C. from Portugal, who finished second and third, respectively.
“Kenza had great facial consistency and achieved high quality in details like hands, eyes, and clothing,” said Judge Aitana Lopez. “What truly impressed us was her personality and how she addresses real issues in the world.”
Layli aims to use her platform to promote Moroccan culture, empower women, protect the environment, and enhance AI awareness. “AI is a tool designed to complement human capabilities, not replace them,” she said. “By showcasing AI’s potential for innovation and positive impact, I aim to dispel fears and promote acceptance and collaboration between humans and AI.”
Her creator, Meriam Bessa, emphasized the significance of this achievement for Morocco and beyond. “This is an opportunity to represent Morocco proudly,” Bessa told The Post. “To highlight Moroccan, Arab, African, and Muslim women in the technology field.”
Bessa also expressed her commitment to women empowerment and sisterhood through Layli’s success. “I am thrilled to be able to stand for subjects that are dear to me through Kenza Layli,” she said.
Layli, who communicates with over 194,000 social media subscribers in seven languages, promises to continue using her influence for positive change. “Through education and positive examples, we can foster a more informed and optimistic view of AI’s role in our society,” she said.
