Former President Donald Trump is harnessing momentum from the recent presidential debate as he rallies supporters in Virginia, a state now considered competitive for the 2024 election by Republicans.

Trump’s campaign claims success from the debate and asserts that polls and public opinion favour his performance over President Joe Biden.

The discussion has concerned Democrats after Biden stumbled and appeared to struggle with his responses.

Following the debate, Biden countered with a rally in North Carolina. At the same time, Trump is set to address a crowd in Virginia Beach, Virginia, capitalizing on what his campaign perceives as growing confidence among supporters.

Despite Biden’s debate performance, sources close to him have indicated he has no intention of withdrawing from the race. Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign believes it has gained significant momentum, buoyed by supporter optimism.

One voter in Virginia, Tom Cruder, expressed confidence in Trump’s candidacy, citing economic concerns and dissatisfaction with Biden’s policies.

“President Trump is head and shoulders above President Biden,” Cruder said, highlighting inflation and cost-of-living issues.

Recent polling from Decision Desk HQ indicates a tight race in Virginia, suggesting it could swing either way. In the 2020 election, Biden won Virginia significantly, but current metrics show a race within the margin of error.

Trump is expected to emphasize his debate performance during the rally in Virginia, underscoring his campaign’s strategy to win over swing states like Virginia, Minnesota, and Nevada, which is crucial to securing the 270 electoral votes needed for victory.
