M10news – Donald Trump returned fiery to the political stage, rallying supporters at Temple University on Saturday night and sharply criticizing President Joe Biden’s administration on issues ranging from immigration to inflation.
Addressing a packed crowd at the Liacouras Center, Trump wasted no time in attacking Biden’s handling of the US-Mexico border crisis, highlighting record numbers of illegal crossings and promising aggressive executive actions, including large-scale deportations and enhanced immunity for federal law enforcement.
“Less than four years ago, we were a great nation,” Trump declared, promising a return to greatness. He linked Philadelphia’s rising crime rates and retail theft to illegal immigration, labelling it “Biden migrant crime.”
Trump also aimed at economic challenges under Biden, contrasting them with his administration’s record. He criticized current inflation levels, asserting that the economy was faring better when he left office in January 2021.
“Inflation is a country-buster,” Trump asserted. “On Day 1 of my [new] administration, we will discard Bidenomics and usher in MAGAnomics!”
During his speech, Trump proposed returning authority over education to the states, eliminating taxes on tipped income, and advocating for an “Iron Dome” defence system modelled after Israel’s. His calls to defund schools enforcing COVID-era mandates or what he termed “transgender insanity” were met with enthusiastic applause.
Ahead of Trump’s address, several Pennsylvania leaders, including GOP Rep. Dan Meuser and Senate candidate Dave McCormick, voiced their support onstage. McCormick emphasized the need for change and criticized Biden and Senator Bob Casey, earning Trump’s endorsement for his Senate bid.
“David McCormick, you have my total support and endorsement,” Trump affirmed. “Dave will defeat your atrocious radical left senator Bob Casey. Bob Casey… He doesn’t do anything.”
Attendees expressed strong support for Trump’s focus on immigration and the economy. Phyllis Madigan, who travelled from Maryland, emphasized Trump’s prioritization of American interests over illegal immigration. Philadelphia resident Joann Palladino echoed similar sentiments, prioritizing economic and border security issues.
Despite Trump’s recent legal challenges, including a conviction in New York, supporters at the rally remained steadfast in their support.
“In my view, [his legal issues] would have not one bit of impact on my vote for him,” Palladino affirmed.
Trump’s appearance at Temple University underscored his continued influence in shaping the Republican Party’s agenda and galvanizing supporters ahead of future elections.
